Throughout this book of poetry
you will find a few selected pieces from other authors whom I greatly
admire. Some are published and famous,
some are not. To me their talent is
equal and tremendous. Here is one:
All
My Life
All my life
I
thought love was earned
By
how I looked
Or
what I accomplished
How
cleverly I spoke
Or
how I could make people laugh
So all my life
I
worried about my appearance
Or
some new conquest
The
force of my words
Or
the jokes I could tell
Somehow I've discovered
In
these latter days
That
love is a gift
Given
lavishly without recompense
Freely
beyond bargaining or good sense
Totally
without concern for expense
Only earning it is impossible
